CHIMENE BADI SINGS ÉDITH PIAF

Her idol left us 60 years ago already, our “baby” Piaf hasn’t been around for the past 60 years … however, ever since her early childhood, Chimène Badi has been listening to her sing. Such a powerful voice, such passionate lyrics, such a legendary figure kindled her desire to plunge wholeheartedly into the great universe of music, right from the start.

Chimène Badi knows everything there is to know about Piaf, her sincere admiration towards her knows no bounds, and Piaf was probably the source of her own vocation. Throughout her entire life, Édith Piaf has, thanks to her artful skills and her temperament, impressed everyone, throughout the world. «La vie en rose » (“Life through Pink Lenses”), « Non je ne regrette rien » (“I Have no Regrets”), « Hymne à l’amour » (“A Hymn to Love”) … These world-renowned tunes and lyrics are now mythical and actually changed the course of French music.

Édith Piaf, was a voice, a refined body language, strictness, a unique personality. A story and a life-course which has common origins with Chimène’s. Just as with Piaf, life hasn’t always been easy for Chimène, she progressed in the musical profession and blazed her own path.

Already 20 years of a successful career, 3.5 million albums sold. « I have enough experience, greater self-confidence, and so much power makes me wish to pay homage finally to the person who has guided me and taught me so much. Singing Piaf is like tackling a huge challenge. It’s immersing oneself into her lyrics, understanding the happiness and euphoria, but also the suffering and the pain.» After the success of Volume 1, Chimène Badi takes up, for the second time, the challenge of paying homage to the artist who has been her model: Edith Piaf. « Chimène sings Piaf: The Integral » is made up of 12 titles from Volume 1 as well as 11 new titles among which some never previously released and duos for such iconic songs such as « Mon Dieu » in a duo with Véronic Dicaire which imitates in an impressive way Edith Piaf’s voice, and « Hymne à l’amour » in a duo with Vincent Niclo. Just as introspective and moving as it is generous and catchy, this integral album pays an exciting homage to Edith Piaf.
