“Youssoupha Gospel Shymphonique Experience” is the meeting of a rapper, his longtime pianist, a gospel choir, and classical musicians, under the artistic direction of cellist/arranger Olivier Koundouno. It is a true “experience” for the audience, but also for those participating in the project, as this type of collaboration is unique.

“A fresh take, a different kind of celebration. Welcome to this Experience. 8 albums, a 20-year career in the ‘rap game,’ as they say, and, most importantly, exactly 10 years after “Noir Désir”, the album that brought me to the attention of a wider audience. I wanted to celebrate this anniversary in a different way, to revisit my most beautiful songs and my most powerful lyrics in a new light.

So came this exhilarating idea for a show that blends my rap with gospel voices and symphonic musicians. Gospel for my roots and my light. The symphony for grace and emotion. My rap for my struggle and my strength. I have stories to tell you with poetry and humor. It’s going to be beautiful, powerful, surprising, and above all, unique.

Revisiting in a new way, celebrating in a new way.

Welcome to this Experience.

This Gospel Symphony Experience.”
