Isabelle Huppert trained at the Conservatoire before gaining recognition in the 1970s with films such as The Lacemaker. She has worked with renowned directors, including Claude Chabrol, Michael Haneke and Paul Verhoeven. Having received awards at Cannes, Venice and Berlin, she has also won a César Award and an Academy Award nomination for Elle. Alongside her film career, she has maintained a prominent presence on stage, performing in France and internationally.
She is currently touring Maupassant, a theatrical reading created in collaboration with the Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria, with the support of the Brunello and Federica Cucinelli Foundation.
“When conceiving an evening of readings, if we choose a selection of short stories by the same author, we can give access to that author’s universe. Like an exhibition devoted to a single painter, where we see several paintings…
Maupassant is a master of the short story. His writing is highly narrative and very fast-paced. He is a master of French prose and one of the greatest short-story writers in literary history.”
