Josepha Madoki, known as “Princess Madoki”, is often described as the leading figure of a culture that is growing in popularity across Europe: Waacking.
Throughout her career, she has founded France’s first Waacking collective, created shows that have been performed internationally, and launched her own Waacking festival in Paris. She has also collaborated with one of the leading figures in theatre direction, Thomas Jolly, on a segment for the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games and the choreography for “Romeo & Juliet” at the Opéra Bastille.
With “Haute Couture”, a collection in motion, Josépha Madoki envisions a dynamic and socially conscious fashion show, where bodies, music, and style interact to challenge gender stereotypes. Driven by electro/house beats and an upcycling aesthetic, the piece brings together eight dancers from diverse backgrounds (voguing, waacking, contemporary dance) in a creation at the intersection of dance and fashion.
Featuring costumes by designer Mario Faundez, a leading figure in upcycling, and an original composition by DJ Naajet, the piece offers a free, inclusive, and contemporary vision of haute couture.
